Report: Arsenal want Arthur, but Barcelona are weighing up move

Arsenal still want Arthur Melo, but Barcelona are now weighing up a move for the Brazilian and he would jump at the chance to return to Camp Nou, .

Arthur is in danger of being put alongside Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain and, more recently, Houssem Aouar as one of the players seemingly linked with the Gunners in every window for a number of years without ever making the move.

It does seem that the midfielder has come close to moving to the Emirates. Reports in January claimed that Edu agreed a deal for a loan move. However, the Arsenal hierarchy decided against giving the transfer the green light.

Arsenal still need at least one new midfielder. And with that, it is no surprise that a move for Arthur is back on the agenda.

that the Gunners remain admirers of the 25-year-old. But they now face some significant competition.

Jose Mourinho wants to take Arthur to Roma. But Barca are also discussing the possibility of re-signing the player. Crucially, Xavi wants him to return. And Arthur would not hesitate to make the move.

No talks have begun thus far. But Frenkie De Jong potentially leaving could open a void in the middle of the park.

Arsenal want Arthur, but Barcelona weighing up move

Arsenal may not welcome another potential battle with Barcelona for one of their transfer targets. Obviously, the two have been involved in the race to sign Raphinha this summer.

Having not signed Arthur yet, the Gunners may be wary of making a move when he may have his sights set on Barca.

He may hold out for the chance to return. And with that, Arsenal could easily be left in limbo.

But Arthur is an ‘‘ player. So there is not too much harm in keeping an eye on developments. If there is a deal to be done, he could certainly be a good signing for Mikel Arteta.
