Report: Arsenal, Tottenham, Bruce and Klopp will have to spend £17m to sign Ugurcan Cakir

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Liverpool were all linked with a move for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir last week, and the latest report claims they will have to spend £17million to land the Turkish stopper.

claim that all four Premier League sides are interested, as are Italian champions Juventus. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has caught the eye for a number of excellent performances, even in the Europa League.

Now, Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal will have to splash £17million to land the Turkey international. Trabzonspor are unwilling to let him go on the cheap, with his contract running until the summer of 2024.

If one of the four sides did spend £17million to sign Cakir, it would make the Turkish goalkeeper the joint-seventh most expensive goalkeeper signing in the Premier League – on a par with Claudio Bravo’s move from Barcelona to Manchester City.

TBR’s view – Is £17m a good deal for Cakir?

Cakir has only played 47 senior games for Trabzonspor and at 23 years of age, that is hardly the amount of experience that big clubs will want in a player. But in those matches, he has impressed.

In the Europa League, he has impressed but the Turkish standard of football is far below that of the Premier League. £17million is a very big risk for Cakir, as it is for any player from the Turkish SuperLig.

Interested parties should scour the market for a more experienced, cheaper resort, before considering Cakir.
