Report: Arsenal to swoop for £53m striker who’s now had enough of his current club

Arsenal are in a great place going into the March international break.

The Gunners are in fantastic form, having won six of their last seven Premier League games.

In addition, Arsenal won their last fixture before the break, beating Aston Villa 1-0 in Birmingham.

Mikel Arteta’s charges are currently fourth in the table, three points ahead of fifth-placed Spurs.

In addition, Arsenal have a game in hand on their north London rivals.

If the Gunners qualify for the Champions League, this would give them a lot more pulling power in the transfer market.

Indeed, it looks as though Edu has already got the ball rolling on a couple of players.

According to , Arsenal have ‘moved’ for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, along with Everton.

“Fed up”

The 24-year-old was one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards several years ago.

However, his career has stalled badly at Real Madrid.

Jovic made a name for himself at Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 27 goals in 47 appearances in 2018-19.

Frankfurt took up the option to sign the Serbia international permanently from Benfica in April 2019.

They then sold him to Real that summer for a reported 60million euro (£53million at the time).

However, Jovic has started in only six La Liga games for Los Blancos since then.

Carlo Ancelotti has not handed him a league start, and has restricted him to only 13 league appearances this season.

Marca, as transcribed by , claims Jovic is ‘fed up’ with his situation at the Bernabeu.

Unless there is a surprise twist in the coming months, Jovic is expected to pack his suitcases and leave Madrid.

He will be ‘waiting for negotiations to be held and what formula will be specified’.

The report adds that, although it’s too early in March to advance or close a deal, this ‘period is important to take positions’.

Arsenal could help kickstart Jovic’s career – TBR View

Just a few years ago, Jovic was one of the hottest properties in European football.

Former Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter him as “a world-class striker who brings extraordinary ability” in February 2021.

Sadly things haven’t gone to plan at Real, but this does not mean he’s become a worse player – sometimes this happens.

Jovic is in real need of a change of scenery, and Arsenal could offer him an opportunity to kickstart his career.
