Report: Arsenal rivalling Galatasaray for FC Basel defender Eray Comert
that Arsenal are rivalling SuperLig giants Galatasaray for FC Basel centre-back Eray Comert after the Switzerland international enjoyed an excellent campaign.
Comert, 22, broke into Basel’s side after a move to the Swiss giants in the summer of 2016 – and has since clocked up 73 appearances in all competitions. This season, Comert has helped Basel keep 14 clean sheets in 35 appearances.
Indeed, Comert’s best performances have been on the biggest stage. Basel have reached the last 16 and are a safe bet to get to the quarter-finals, having beaten Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 away in the round of 16.
Frankfurt, of course, beat Arsenal at the Emirates in November. Comert has played every minute of Basel’s nine Europa League games, helping them win seven of those outings – helping them keep six clean sheets, and concede just four goals.
Comert has also won his first cap for Switzerland, but now his future could be elsewhere – as he seemingly outgrows Basel. Gala are keen, as are Arsenal. The report claims his market value is a bargain £2million.

TBR’s view – Comert an absolute bargain, and a real talent
Spearheading a rock-solid defence at the age of 22, that has seen Basel – a relatively small side in comparision to other Europa League clubs – almost qualify for the last eight, will see Comert be the flavour of many sides this summer.
But at £2million, it is an absolute no-brainer that Arsenal land his signature. Low risk and potentially massive reward, Comert could be the man to get a hold of Arsenal’s defence and plug the gaps.
