Report: Arsenal ready to table an enormous £170k-a-week offer for striker

that Arsenal are ready to hand Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic an enormous £170,000-a-week contract this summer – but the player is still hesitating over a move.

Jovic, 22, joined Real Madrid last summer after shining for German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt – netting 36 goals in 75 appearances during a two-year loan from Benfica with the German side.

A Serbia international, such form saw Jovic move to Real Madrid last summer but only managed to score two goals in 24 league and cup appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s Spanish giants.

That has seen Jovic’s future is up in the air ahead of the summer. The belief is that Jovic is likely to remain at Real Madrid, but Arsenal and AC Milan are interested – and The Gunners are happy to table £170,000 a week.

that would make Jovic the fourth best-paid player at Arsenal, behind Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Jovic, though, is hesitating, as he wants a move to AC Milan – with Ivan Gazidis looking to trump his old side.

TBR’s view – Do Arsenal need Jovic?

Right now, no. Aubameyang remains at the club and even if he decides to leave on a free transfer, that means the Gunners will still boast the African attacker for another season. Lacazette is out of form, but remains a top striker.

Even without those two, Arsenal still have Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli. As a replacement for Aubameyang or Lacazette, Jovic would be a decent signing but until both leave – he is unneeded in north London.
