Report: Arsenal plotting summer move for Eduardo Camavinga

Arsenal are doing everything within their power to position themselves in the race to sign Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga during the summer transfer window,

The youngster has experienced an indifferent season with the Ligue 1 outfit, scoring once and claiming three assists. Despite that, he is still renowned as one of the top talents in world football.

Camavinga has a contract with Rennes until June 2022. As a result, this summer could be the last chance for the French outfit to get a sizeable sum for his services.

It’s unlikely that the Ligue 1 club will accept anything less than £43 million even though he has just a year left on his current contract.

Arsenal might not have European football to entice new signings next season and it does look like an ambitious move by the Gunners.

The report also claims that Camavinga has placed his interests in the hands of English agent Jonathan Barnett – highlighting a possible desire to head to the Premier League.

His portfolio is extensive and includes Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell, whilst Jack Grealish is also one of his high-profile clients.

Camavinga, 18, has already played 80 first-team games for Rennes and his form has seen him win three caps for France.

TBR View: Camavinga the dream for Arsenal

You have to say that although the report seems legitimate, the Gunners will face some stern competition for the services of the international midfielder.

Plenty of clubs in better positions than Arsenal will be planning a swoop this summer and Mikel Arteta might need to act quickly.

Camavinga would come with a substantial price tag and whether a deal can be done will be down to whether or not Arsenal can justify the sum without being in European competition.

If they can it would really send a message out to the club’s rivals and his presence in the midfield could help the club return to glory.
