Report: Arsenal plan move for foreign star who’s within price range, Guardiola called him ‘excellent’ in 2018
Arsenal are being linked with a move for Lyon star Houssem Aouar.
, the Gunners are planning to make a move for the 22-year-old.
Apparently, the midfielder’s price tag has dropped from £55million to £20million. This is a result of Lyon failing to qualify for the Champions League this campaign.
The report says they are preparing a bid for their long-term foreign target, with the quoted £20million valuation within their price range.
Additionally, they’ll offer him a £100,000-a-week deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Aouar looks a perfect fit on paper for the north London club, who need to strengthen significantly to improve next season.
He’s an all-action central midfielder that is great in all areas of his game, so Gunners boss Mikel Arteta must ensure the club meeting the bargain £20million asking price.
The Frenchman can pick a pass and impact a match going forward, making 12 direct goal contributions in 33 appearances this season. Additionally, he’s defensively astute working in the centre of the park, and is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Pep Guardiola previously raved about Arsenal target Houssem Aouar
Manchester City manager Guardiola previously gave his seal of approval for Aouar back in 2018.
“Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible. We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality,”
Guardiola doesn’t throw out such high praise easily, so it’s a testament to him.
Arsenal are crying out for a bit more guile and creativity in the centre of the park. Lyon’s Aouar ticks all the box.
To conclude, playing 170 senior games in his career already at his age shows Arsenal would be signing someone who’s already proven.
