𝐆According to , Arsenal and West Ham United are interested in signing Lille midfielder Amadou Onana in the upcoming summer transfer window.

🌠It is no secret that the Gunners are in the market looking for a new man in the middle of the park. Mikel Arteta currently has Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga in central midfield, while Mohamed Elneny has also signed a new deal.

🥂That, on paper, may seem like enough options, but Arsenal are back in Europe next season, and they need another man in the middle – preferably someone who’s more dynamic than the likes of Xhaka and Elneny.

The likes of Youri Tielemans and Ruben Neves🌳 have constantly been linked over the last few months, but the rumour mill has released a brand new name this week – Onana of Lille.

Arsenal want to sign Amadou Onana

ﷺOnana, still only 20, was born in Senegal but is a Belgian citizen. He has represented the Red Devils across different age groups at youth level and is a current under-21 international.

❀The young midfielder only joined Lille last summer, and nobody really expected him to become a regular. However, Onana ended up playing 42 times for Les Dogues in all competitions last term, and he has caught everyone’s eye.

💖The report claims that there’s a good chance the 20-year-old will leave Lille this summer. West Ham and Arsenal have both watched him play and are keen, while fellow Ligue 1 side Monaco are said to be interested as well.

The Monegasques are on the verge of losing Aurelien Tchouameniꦍ to Real Madrid and are looking for a replacement. Onana is reportedly an option, and if Arsenal and West Ham don’t follow up on their interest, the young Belgian could head to Monaco before the start of the next campaign.

Compared to Pogba, dreamed of Liverpool move

ꦏJust seven months ago, asked Onana about the reason why he joined Lille. He claimed that Belgians and the Ligue 1 club have always had a good connection, and went on to give an example of how Belgian players who play for Les Dogues go on to join clubs like Liverpool – something Divock Origi has done.

🐽Onana hinted he wanted to follow in the same footsteps: “I don’t know if it played a part, but this connection between Lille and Belgians has always worked really well. They are players who have had very good careers, who are now at Liverpool and Real Madrid. If things go that way for me, sign me up immediately”.

🐈Speaking about himself in another interview, the talented 20-year-old revealed that people always compare him to Paul Pogba. He then admitted that he idolised the French World Cup winner.

🌜He once told : “Yes, I am often compared to him. Pogba inspires me on a daily basis. He is a physical, technical player, with a real intelligence of the game. I think he is an exceptional player.”
