That’s according to , who report that talks between Roma and Arsenal have moved on during Boxing Day, with a loan deal all but agreed now. It is expected that Maitland-Niles will join Jose Mourinho’s side on loan, with a view to a potential permanent move in the summer.
claims ‘in depth’ talks have taken place. Now all that is to be set is the terms of the loan, and any fees involved in doing the deal.

Maitland-Niles stayed put in the summer despite looking to leave at first. Mikel Arteta convinced the England man to remain, but his first-team chances have been limited. He is currently out of contention as a starter, with the likes of Xhaka, Partey, and Lokonga all ahead of him in midfield.

Roma would be a good fit. We’ve seen how Tammy Abraham has shone since arriving in the Italian capital. The Arsenal man, then, will be hoping to do similar.
For Mikel Arteta, it will be a blow to lose someone so versatile. But maybe he should have considered that more before promising game time and then simply relenting on it.
