Arsenal could go back for ‘world-class’ £110m forward despite apparently withdrawing from race last week

Arsenal’s search for a top number number nine has yet to yield the desired result in the last few windows but they could now be in the mix for one of Europe’s most in-demand forwards.

The Gunners opted to go for Kai Havertz last summer and it was a decision that eventually proved a good one as he starred as a number nine in the run-in.

However, there is still a clear need for a striker at the club and with Arsenal pushing Eddie Nketiah to leave, they clearly want someone new in.

Indeed, their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko before he eventually signed a new contract showed their desire to sign a striker.

And now, according to reports from Italy, Arsenal could get involved to sign Serie A star, Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal could re-enter mix to sign Victor Osimhen

According to Italian outlet , Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will now leave the club and Arsenal are not ruled out of making an offer.

It comes as Osimhen was left out of Napoli’s friendly this weekend and their chairman confirmed the Nigerian wants out.

Arsenal, of course, were thought to be completely out of the race only a week or so ago.

Chelsea, too, are also thought to have pulled away from the deal due to the financials involved.

Osimhen initially had a £110m release-clause but he is expected to go for much less than that now.

PSG are the most keen on Osimhen, with the French club apparently willing to match his wage demands.

Osimhen would be stunning for Arsenal

It still seems unlikely given the figures involved and the fact that PSG are there in the mix but if Arsenal were to sign Victor Osimhen, it changes the game.

We saw how Erling Haaland made Manchester City a completely new force and you get the feeling the ‘‘ Osimhen would do the same for Arsenal.

Of course, whether the Gunners will pay up and put a huge contract in front of him, remains to be seen.

But if there is an opening as is suggested here, then it’s one Arsenal should look to exploit.
