Report: Arsenal looking to raid Ajax for Argentine defender Nicolas Tagliafico
that Arsenal are weighing up a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico this summer in order to allow teenage starlet Bukayo Saka to move further forward, into his more natural position of left wing.
Tagliafico, 27, is a regular at Ajax having joined the club in January 2018. He has since managed 99 appearances in all competitions for Ajax, and has had a hand in a whopping 27 goals – scoring 12 and creating 15.
Back in 2018, CalcioMercato – – claimed that Unai Emery had tabled an £8million bid to sign Tagliafico. Now, almost two years on, Arsenal are considering a move to land the Argentine defender for a whopping £20million.
Such a move would allow Saka – who Arsenal are confident of tying down long-term – to move into his original position of left wing. Kieran Tierney remains a doubt at The Emirates due to his consistent injury issues.

TBR’s view – Bad news for Kolasinac?
Even without considering Saka as a left-back, Arsenal already have two excellent options on the left side of their defence in the form of Tierney and Sead Kolasinac. Bringing a third left-sided defender to the club would surely see one depart.
Tierney was only signed from Celtic last summer and is still only 22 years of age. Recovered from a dislocated shoulder, he could play for Arsenal during the remainder of the season if it continues.
Given that Kolasinac is four years Tierney’s senior and has only shown in glimpses that he can be a decent left-back, surely the Bosnian would depart if Champions League defender Tagliafico was signed?
