Report: Arsenal interested in signing Olympiacos star, after Europa League clash

that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has requested more information on Olympiacos midfielder Mady Camara, after the African star shone against The Gunners over two Europa League legs.

Camara, 23, has starred at the base of Olympiacosmidfield over the last two seasons since joining the Greek giants from French side Ajaccio. He has played 73 times in all competitions for his current side, and has a contract until 2023.

But after shining against Arsenal, Arteta has told his scouts to compile a detailed dossier on the Guinea international ahead of a potential summer move for the midfielder. Sheffield United have already had a bid rejected this season.

Olympiacos claim that Camara is likely to cost around £17.4million if The Gunners do look to sign him in the summer. A central midfielder is likely to be top of Mikel Arteta’s shortlist, with Dani Ceballos set to return to Real Madrid at the end of his loan.

TBR’s view Could Camara prove to be a bargain purchase?

In the grand scheme of football’s current transfer markets, a fee of less than £20million for a club that aspire to challenge for the top four of the Premier League is a bargain figure. Camara, who showed he is capable to play for Arsenal, is a top player.

If The Gunners can sign Camara and for such a small figure, they would be landing a player who is tenacious with age on his side, boasts experience in European competition and has the ability to reach the top level all for a tiny price. A no-brainer.
