Report: Arsenal interested in hiring Vitor Pereira after rejecting Everton
that Arsenal have become interested in Shanghai SIPG manager Vitor Pereira after he turned down a move to Everton to replace Marco Silva earlier this month.
Pereira, 51, is vastly impressing in the Chinese Super League with SIPG. Since taking over in 2018, the former Olympiacos, Porto and Fenerbahce manager has masterminded 52 wins in 86 games – and helped himself to silverware.
He has won the Chinese Super League in 2018, and the Cup this time around. He has won two league titles at Porto, and one with Olympiacos. His burgeoning reputation had attracted Everton to bring him to the Premier League.
Pereira has turned Everton down, but the report claims he would be much more open to a move to Arsenal – with his current deal expiring at the end of the month. However, Shanghai have offered Pereira a new £405k-a-week deal to remain in China.
It is believed Pereira will make a decision – between Arsenal or SIPG – ‘in the coming days’.

TBR’s view – Can Arsenal convince Pereira with Gunners move?
Pereira is a top, top manager. He is a serial winner, taking charge of sides that are expected to challenge at the top of their divisions in Porto, SIPG and Olympiacos – and delivering despite plenty of pressure and expectant fan bases.
It is clear that Pereira is tempted by Arsenal, but is he a risk in the Premier League – especially given the likelihood that he will require enormous wages? He wil not expect the kind of wages SIPG are offering, but he will expect a good percentage of that.
It remains to be seen what Pereira decides to do – but surely a move to Arsenal would see Pereira test himself at the top level.
