Report: Arsenal hoping for £50m for Guendouzi and Torreira in summer clearout
Arsenal are hoping their summer clearout will see them bring in £50m alone just for the sales of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.
The midfield pair are both currently out on loan from the Gunners. And with Mikel Arteta continuing his overhaul of the playing squad at Arsenal, that the pair will be sold for £25m each.
Guendouzi and Torreira could head a whole pack of Gunners stars given the all clear to leave. Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, and Reiss Nelson are all other names mentioned, while David Luiz’s future remains uncertain.
Torreira arrived at the club in 2018 for a fee. However, he’s never quite tied down a regular starting spot. Guendouzi, meanwhile, was shipped out after a fall-out with Mikel Arteta last year.
Arteta is keen to both trim his squad and add appropriate quality where needed. Last summer saw the additions of Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes. January, meanwhile, saw Martin Odegaard arrive on loan while Mesut Ozil was finally shifed along.
TBR View: £50m would be brilliant for Guendouzi and Torreira
Most Arsenal fans would surely snap your hand off if you offered them £50m for the pair of midfielders at this moment in time. Essentially, if the Gunners get that fee, it pays for Thomas Partey.
Both are talented players but both appear to have burnt their bridges with the club in one way or another. Arteta is clearly keen to move on, and getting funds in for the duo will be more than helpful in the summer.
