Report: Arsenal hold talks over signing of free agent Malang Sarr

Arsenal have held talks over a deal to sign free agent Malang Sarr but the Gunners haven’t tabled a contract to the player.

The powerful central defender is available without a transfer fee after leaving Nice last month following the end of his contract.

Defensive recruits will seemingly be high on Mikel Arteta’s list of priorities. The likes of David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi have been prone to the odd error and another player could be added.

With European football not likely to be on the table for the Gunners, Sarr would surely be an attractive option for the Gunners given they wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee.

The 21-year-old is widely regarded as one of  Europe’s brightest defensive talents and on a free transfer, he’d be a remarkable coup.

Arsenal might have to get themselves in gear though. It is thought that other clubs are more advanced in their talks, with Torino showing particular interest.

William Saliba will be available to Arteta next season after arriving from Saint-Etienne. Still, it seems Arteta isn’t overly convinced with some of his current crop of defenders.

Sokratis and Konstantinos Mavropanos could make way, with both likely to leave the Gunners in the summer

TBR View – Arsenal need to secure Sarr

The young defender is absolutely perfect for what the Gunners need and they can’t let another club win this race.

Despite his tender years he already boasts 119 appearances to his name and that should put him in good shape for the future.

On a free transfer, he is a complete no-brainer for Arsenal.

Sarr is strong, good on the ball and shows a calm and composed persona in his defending.

A master of the modern arts, Sarr could prove to be one the best signing of the summer for Arsenal if they can get a deal over the line.
