Report: Arsenal haven’t given up hope of signing ‘unbelievable’ player, will find out in next 24 hours

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Leeds United star Raphinha over the past few weeks.

Admittedly, the Gunners have fallen behind in the race for the Elland Road winger.

Indeed, one recent report claimed Mikel Arteta had resigned himself to missing out on Raphinha.

However, the has now reported that Arsenal haven’t given up hope of signing the Brazilian.

This is despite Raphinha ‘having already snubbed’ the Gunners and north London rivals Tottenham.

That said, the report does state that Chelsea are frontrunners should Barcelona not come through.

Either way, this saga looks set to come to an end soon.

The Evening Standard report that ‘a decision on Raphinha’s future is expected within 24 hours’.

In all honesty, many Arsenal fans will probably be glad to hear the end of this saga.

Although Raphinha is an “unbelievable” player, he has looked destined for either Chelsea or Barcelona for a while.

And realistically, £55million is a lot of money to spend on a player who may not necessarily be first-choice.

Bukayo Saka has made Arsenal’s right flank his own, so Raphinha would’ve had to compete with him.

Of course, there could always be a late twist.

The transfer window always conjures up a few of those every summer/January.

But even if Arsenal fail to land Raphinha, there’s still plenty of time in the transfer window to find other reinforcements on the wings.

Besides, the Gunners have excelled so far in the transfer window, landing Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos.
