Arsenal have now made contact with Portuguese outfit Vitória Guimarães to ask about signing Ibrahima Bamba.
The Gunners have been credited with an interest in the Italy international since last month, but they have now made their first move to try and sign him.
That is according to Portuguese outlet who also claim that Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs keen on the midfielder.
Atalanta and Villarreal are also apparently on Bamba’s case and it could be a hotly contested race for his signature.

Arsenal make contact over signing Bamba
The report says that Bamba signed a new deal with the Portuguese club recently, but it has a 30 million euros (£26 million) release clause.
It is unclear whether Vitoria would be willing to negotiate on that, but that fee is something Arsenal would likely be able to afford if they really want the player.
The report also says that Arsenal are not the only club to have made an approach, and it is expected that offers will soon follow.
At the moment, it is a case of trying to find out what it will take to buy the midfielder, who has already been called up by Italy at senior level despite being just 20.
That means his profile would fit into what Arsenal have been doing but they also have a young, talented midfielder in Sambi.
If they get a new face in during January, perhaps it will be somebody with more experience under their belt and of course the recent injury to Gabriel Jesus may change their priorities in the winter window.
