Report: Arsenal have made contact over ‘really special’ £50m striker who’s been compared to Shevchenko
With the Premier League season now over, Arsenal can focus on bolstering their ranks ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
The Gunners got so close to landing a top-four place, but ultimately had to settle for the Europa League.
Nonetheless, Arsenal were much improved in 2021-22, with most of last summer’s signings doing well.
Now, the Gunners have to not only bring in more quality, but strength in depth too.
In addition, Arsenal have a serious pressing issue in one position – centre-forward.
The Gunners offloaded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and didn’t bring in a replacement.
Arsenal’s remaining two senior strikers – Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah – are both out of contract in summer.
While Gabriel Jesus appears to be Arsenal’s top target, there are other centre-forwards on their radar.
According to , Everton striker Richarlison remains on the Gunners’ radar.
Indeed, Charles Watts has claimed that Arsenal have sounded out his representatives in recent weeks.
Richarlison has been a key player for Everton this season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin absent for much of the campaign.
The Brazil international registered 10 goals and five assists in 30 Premier League appearances as Frank Lampard’s side fought off relegation.
Richarlison joined Everton from Watford in 2018 for a fee of £50million.
However, he is set to enter the final two years of his contract this summer.
If Everton don’t persuade Richarlison to pen fresh terms, they’ll have to make a decision.
They can either sell him this summer at a high value, or risk his market value falling in future windows as his contract runs down.
Dean Jones, writing on , tipped Richarlison to have a price tag of £50million or higher.

Davide Ancelotti, the son of Carlo Ancelotti and his assistant at Real Madrid, compared Richarlison to AC Milan and Ukraine legend Andriy Shevchenko in 2020.
“Richarlison reminds me of Shevchenko because he is a No9 but he can also play as a second striker, with the finishing ability of a No9,” the former Everton coach told the .
“I think the best position of Richarlison is in the centre. He is working well with another striker because he likes to come and play with the others, rather than be patient on the backline.
“Richarlison is a great header of the ball, he is really good in the box and his versatility makes him a really special player because he is a first and a second striker at the same time.”
