Indeed, Gunners have been heavily linked with Aouar for well over a year. The French international was a target for the club in 2020. And reports from this week suggest that a bid has even been submitted for the Lyon playmaker.

Furthermore, Aouar is likely to move on from Lyon this summer. The midfielder is reportedly available for as little as £25m as per Le 10 Sport.

Arsenal are in search of a midfielder this summer. Matteo Guendouzi has already departed the club for Marseille. The youngster joined the French giants on a loan-to-buy deal.

Elsewhere, AS Roma continue to be eager on signing Granit Xhaka. However, the Roman club and Arsenal are yet to reach an agreement for the Swiss international.

Indeed, Arsenal changing tact from Locatelli to Aouar seems to indicate that the Gunners are eager to snap up a quality midfielder before the start of the season.

With Locatelli stating his intention to play for Juventus, Arsenal are making the right decision moving on from the Italian and on to other targets.
