Report: Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac set to join Bundesliga side Schalke on loan

Kieran Tierney has been on fire for Arsenal this season, becoming one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet and finally showing fans why Unai Emery spent £25million to sign him. But his form has been to the detriment of Sead Kolasinac.

Kolasinac, 27, has been forced to watch from the sidelines and while that has been largely down to injury, the Bosnian has now fallen even further down the pecking order behind Tierney. Arsenal also have back-up in the form of Bukayo Saka.

So, the January transfer window looks inviting for Kolasinac and it appears he is set for a swift move. report he is on the verge of completing a loan move to former side Schalke, where he previously played 123 times.

Schalke certainly need some inspiration from somewhere. They currently sit rock-bottom of the Bundesliga with just four points from 13 league games, and remain without a win. They are only six points from safety, though. Kolasinac could help.

The report states that he is ‘sitting on packed suitcases’ and will travel to Germany – where he has a house in Dusseldorf – either on Thursday or Friday. Saturday’s clash against Hertha Berlin is expected to come too early.

TBR’s view – Schalke return makes complete sense for Kolasinac

Even with Schalke playing poorly in the Bundesliga. He needs game time and he will certainly get that at his former side. There is no doubt that the left-back has a future at Arsenal, but with Tierney playing so well, game time is at a premium.

The £100,000-a-week () star has suffered injuries too, meaning game time is absolutely crucial in regaining some momentum. Playing at a club where he is liked by the supporters and will definitely play makes the move perfect.
