Report: Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny emerges as target for Borussia Dortmund

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is a summer target for a German heavyweight. , Koscielny features on Borussia Dortmund’s summer wishlist.

Koscielny has been with the Gunners since his 2010 switch from Lorient. In nine years in East London, he has racked up a total of 353 appearances, including 255 Premier League outings.

The veteran centre-back has had his injury concerns in the past few seasons, though. In the 2018/19 campaign, Koscielny was limited to just 17 Premier League matches.

And the France international missed his country’s victorious World Cup campaign last summer through injury. Arsenal might now decide it is time to cash in.

The 33-year-old still has one more year to run on his Arsenal contract. But the prospect of moving to Borussia Dortmund could tempt Koscielny.

During his career, Koscielny has only ever played in France and England. With limited time left in his career, this could be an exciting new opportunity.

Borussia Dortmund narrowly missed out on the Bundesliga title last season. But with Mario Mandzukic, Ilkay Gundogan and Koscielny on their summer transfer list, they could push on next season.

TBR’s view

Koscielny was Arsenal’s most consistent central defender when fit last season. But his injury record over the last few years indicates he is coming towards the end of his career.

It could be the perfect time to cash in on him and look to bring in new players. However, regardless of Koscielny’s situation, Arsenal need at least one new centre-back anyway.
