The 18-year-old has already been capped three times by Mexico, despite never making a senior appearance for Arsenal.

Flores sat on the bench against Crystal Palace last season, but didn’t come on in the 3-0 defeat.

Since arriving at Real Oviedo, Flores has started just two matches, and has played less than 45 minutes of football in their last four games.

Arsenal will have no interest in seeing Flores sitting on the bench, and could recall him in January to find him a new more elsewhere.

The versatile attacker is highly regarded at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta saying he was developing ‘ last season.

Flores is happy playing as an attacking midfielder, on the wing or up front.

That versatility is especially important as a young player, who doesn’t want to be pigeonholed too early in his career.

Oviedo have taken advantage of this, giving him opportunities to play across the front line.

However, this lack of consistency might have made it harder for Flores to nail down a starting spot in the team.

The ‘excellent’ Flores will have one eye on potentially joining up with Mexico for the World Cup in Qatar.

He wasn’t in the squad for their most recently friendly against Peru, and looks unlikely to be in the final squad right now.

Arsenal could have to recall Flores in January to avoid the Mexican wasting an important season in his development not playing.
