Report: Arsenal considering Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar

﷽ that Arsenal are monitoring Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar as the Frenchman continues to struggle to make an impact in La Liga, after he completed a £63.2million move to Atleti back in June 2018.

📖Lemar, 24, joined Diego Simeone’s side after shining for Monaco alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy. However, since his move to Atleti, he has struggled to have an effect in Spain.

🀅Indeed, Lemar has scored just three goals in 64 appearances for Simeone’s men – coming off the bench 23 times and only completing 90 minutes on 10 occasions. He has a contract at Atleti until the summer of 2023.

🌟The 2018 World Cup winner is likely to be somewhat flexible in the January window of Atleti receive a decent bid – though they can hardly expect a figure close to the one they paid for him. Arsenal are monitoring the situation.

TBR’s view – Do Arsenal need Lemar right now?

💧Probably not. Nicolas Pepe was brought to Arsenal after boasting much better stats than Lemar had in France, and the latter’s form in Spain suggests he would hardly be a good signing in an even more competitive Premier League.

🀅The Gunners have options in the flanks along with Pepe, with young stars Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are all impressing. Wasting money on Lemar, when a defender and a midfielder are crucial, would be foolish.
