Report: Arsenal concerned over future of Liverpool target Bukayo Saka

Arsenal are concerned that they may struggle to agree a new contract with Bukayo Saka should they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, – in news that may catch the eye of some of those in charge at Liverpool.

Unsurprisingly, agreeing an extension with Saka is a priority for the Gunners. He has been outstanding since emerging into the first-team at the Emirates.

It is remarkable to think that he is still only 20 years of age. He has comfortably passed a century of appearances for the club.

Arsenal are hoping that there are many more to come from Saka. However, there are teams reportedly waiting in the wings. Both Liverpool and Manchester City could reportedly make a move should Arsenal fail to make the top four this season.

that there is a worry at Arsenal that Saka may decide against signing a new deal should Mikel Arteta’s side fall short of the Champions League qualification spots.

It is said that agreeing improved terms is a priority. He currently earns £35,000-a-week. And he is line to become one of the club’s highest-earners should he pen a new deal.

But clearly, Arsenal feel that they have plenty of work to do before Saka is willing to sign a new contract.

Arsenal losing Saka would be a huge blow amid contract concerns

The Daily Mail notes that Saka will have two years left this summer. So Arsenal would find themselves in a precarious position should he decide against signing a new deal.

There is absolutely no doubt that losing Saka would be devastating for many Arsenal fans. He is arguably the jewel in the crown when it comes to their most exciting young players. Roy Keane labelled him a ‘special‘ player.

It would also send out a worrying message to some of the other prospects attracting attention. For years, Arsenal fell short because their best players seemed to leave on a consistent basis.

Returning to that cycle would be agonising given the current crop coming through.
