Report: Arsenal close to finalising player’s contract termination, set to join new club on Friday
Arsenal and Mesut Ozil are close to finalising the outstanding details of his contract termination ahead of his medical and move to Fenerbahce on Friday, according to .
The 32-year-old, whose Gunners contract was set to expire at the end of the season, arrived in Istanbul on Sunday evening and has been self-isolating in line with Turkish protocols.
Once this period is finished, Ozil is expected to undergo a medical with Fenerbahce in two days’ time before finally being unveiled as the Superlig giants’ new player, claims .

The 2014 World Cup winner had been at Arsenal since 2013, when he joined the Gunners to much fanfare in a £42.4million deal from Real Madrid, and clocked up 254 competitive appearances, registering 44 goals and 77 assists.
However, Ozil has endured a nightmare end to his time in North London, being axed from Mikel Arteta’s Premier League and Europa League squads having last played competitively for the Gunners in March last year.
Major League Soccer’s DC United had also been linked with a January move for the former Germany star, who retired from international football in 2018.

And so, the Ozil saga has all-but come to an end – it’s a shame that such a high-profile player, who arrived at the Emirates to such fanfare and had the potential to become a club legend, has left in such an unceremonious way.
Opinion continues to be split amongst the fanbase – some fans are glad to see the back of him, while others are gutted he’s left, particularly in such an anticlimactic way, but really, it looks as though it’s best for all parties.
