Arsenal are set to sign ‘really composed’ player this week after recent developments
Arsenal could be inching ever closer to making a big signing this week after some major developments took place over the weekend.
The Gunners have been pressing on with their transfer plans and with the Euros now over and done with, there’s a chance for things to really move forward.
As we know, Arsenal are looking to strengthen in a number of key areas, with a defender and a new central midfielder high on the agenda.
Arsenal are keen on Mikel Merino for the middle of the park and could well sign the Spaniard before the window is done with.
However, it is in defence where things have been making the most progress and the Gunners seem determined to get the signing of Riccardo Calafiori over the line.
Reports over the weekend said Arsenal were just waiting for the final steps to be sorted with Calafiori.

According to the report, Arsenal are now closer than ever to an agreement with the Italian defender.
It comes amid an apparent breakthrough in negotiations over the weekend which saw the Gunners agree to pay £40m for Calafiori and satisfy Bologna’s asks.
It’s now hoped that a deal will be completely finalised this week and that the Gunners can announce Calafiori as a new signing.
Calafiori impressed in the Euros and has been backed to make an impression at The Emirates as well by Tony Cascarino.
“He has got it all, he has got it all. Honestly. He’s really composed, but he has got a bit of (Sergio) Ramos in him as well, but not as bad as Ramos, who was quite a bit forceful in the way he defended, would foul a bit. He has got a bit of that,” Cascarino said.
“He gets on the ball, he can find passes really easy, You can play him in a three, you can play him in a two, he’s really versatile, and I think it’s a great addition for Arsenal.”
Arsenal fans, then, will be excited to see this one finally done and dusted so they can move onto further deals.
