According to , Arsenal are now surprisingly considering making a move to sign Leeds United’s Brazilian winger Raphinha this summer.

The 25-year-old only moved to Elland Road a couple of years ago, but he has become a fan favourite. The tricky wide man is expected by many to move on this summer, and Barcelona were viewed as the likeliest club to sign him.

However, Leeds United’s £55 million valuation of the Brazilian forced Barca to look elsewhere.

That has opened the door for other clubs to consider a move for Raphinha this summer, and Arsenal are reportedly one of the sides who are interested in signing him.

Arsenal want to sign Raphinha from Leeds United

Arsenal will be back in Europe next season, and with Alexandre Lacazette gone and Nicolas Pepe set to follow him out of the door soon, the Gunners are keen to strengthen their attack.

A new striker will be the priority for Mikel Arteta this summer, but Arsenal could do with a wide player too, especially if Pepe leaves. Leeds star Raphinha would be a sensational replacement.

The report claims that Arsenal are yet to make an approach to sign the Whites star, but he is on their list of potential options.

However, the Gunners are set to face stiff competition for his signature, with a number of clubs across Europe keen to sign him before the start of the new season.

TBR View:

Arsenal are right to consider signing Raphinha this summer. He’s still only 25, knows the Premier League really well and is a hugely talented player too.

With Pepe expected to be sold in the coming weeks, the Brazilian would be an extraordinary replacement, but whether he would be willing to move to the Emirates to become the second choice there is the big question.

Raphinha, branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Kalvin Phillips, has mostly played on the right flank for Leeds, and that is his best position. Arsenal have Bukayo Saka there, and it’s extremely unlikely that the young Englishman will be asked to give up that spot on the pitch.

That makes it difficult for us to imagine where Raphinha would fit in at Arsenal, but if he’s really on Arteta’s wish list, the Gunners boss must have a plan.
