Report: Arsenal approach Champions League boss, he is keen on Gunners move
that Benfica manager Jorge Jesus has been approached by Arsenal over a possible move to replace Mikel Arteta. The experienced Portuguese gaffer is said to be keen on a move to North London.
Arteta has come repeatedly under pressure as Arsenal manager this season, most-recently after three losses in four – to Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton. The latter really grinding the gears of Arsenal fans.
But a 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday has relieved some pressure, along with the fact that the Gunners sit in a comfortable sixth place in the Premier League table. However, reports suggest a replacement could be targeted.
Indeed, the report claims Arsenal have approached 67-year-old Jesus. He has enormous experience, managing 14 different clubs and over 1200 games in management – but never in English football.
A three-time Portuguese title winner as a manager – and a Copa Libertadores winner with Flamengo, Jesus is highly-rated. The report says he has been approached, and is keen on replacing Arteta at Arsenal.

Jesus to Arsenal: Unlikely that Arteta will be leaving any time soon
Arsenal are building under Arteta. Already, despite some questionable results, they are getting better under the Spaniard. His identity and work in the transfer window is beginning to pay dividends.
Many questioned his approach, and the signings of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard. But things are good at The Emirates, and they are currently in the hunt for at least Europa League qualification.
As any modern club does these days, Arsenal and sporting director Edu will have a list of possible replacements lined up. Jesus could be an option. But Arteta is likely to remain in the hotseat for the foreseeable.
