Report: Arsenal and Wolves reject chance to sign £13.5m-rated Mourinho star in swap

that both Wolves and Arsenal have rejected the chance to sign Amadou Diawara in swap deals this summer. Diawara is clearly surplus to requirements under Jose Mourinho. He was offered to Arsenal and Wolves, but both have chosen not to sign Diawara.

Diawara, 24, has managed just 58 appearances in two seasons at Roma – starting just 43 games. He has completed 90 minutes just 25 times in all competitions, since 2019. Mourinho is now in the Roma dugout and is keen to offload Diawara – who SLR claim has a price tag of £13.5million.

The report says Diawara was offered to Arsenal in a deal for Granit Xhaka, according to the report. But Arsenal have rejected the chance to sign the Guinea international, as have Wolves. Part of a deal for Rui Patricio, but the Portugal international joined Roma for a cash-only offer.

Would Diawara have improved Arsenal or Wolves?

No. Diawara is a good player, but he is nowhere near as good as the players that both clubs currently boast. Roma wanted to sign Granit Xhaka to replace Diawara – meaning Xhaka is clearly a better midfielder. Xhaka is not Arsena’s best, Thomas Partey is the club’s best holding midfielder.

At Wolves, they still boast Ruben Neves despite reports suggesting he could go. Other options include Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker. Both sides boast numerous midfielders better than Diawara. It means that signing the midfielder makes little sense.
