Report: Arsenal and Manchester City join Liverpool in race for Malick Thiaw
that Arsenal and Manchester City have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Schalke teenager Malick Thiaw ahead of the summer window – after the youngster made his debut for the Bundesliga side.
Thiaw, 18, is one of the highest-rated prospects of his age in German football at the moment. From centre-back, Thiaw has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for the club’s Under-19 side this season.
It saw Schalke manager David Wagner decide to hand him his debut on March 7 during a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim. The Covid-19 pandemic has halted Thiaw from clocking up his second senior outing, but he is certainly making an impression.
earlier this week that Liverpool were interested in luring Thiaw to Anfield, with the player boasting a £7million release clause in his deal. that Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are keen.

TBR’s view – Which club would be best for Thiaw?
Mikel Arteta seems intent on bringing young players into the side. Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and more have all been involved in the side since he took over.
At Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip make it near impossible for central defenders to be given a chance. Sepp van der Berg is realising that, while Nat Phillips is out on loan despite returning to play one match.
Manchester City have two excellent young options at centre-back in Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis. The duo have featured for the first team but like Liverpool, there are stronger options ahead. The Emirates is his best move.
