Report: Arsenal agree Mykola Matviyenko deal, but Gunners set to make decision
that Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Mykola Matviyenko from Shakhtar Donetsk before Friday’s deadline – but the report also claims that The Gunners are to decide between him and Pablo Mari.
Shkodran Mustafi was stretchered off the pitch on Monday night during Arsenal’s 2-1 FA Cup win, leaving the Gunners light at centre-back with Calum Chambers also injured. A central defender is being targeted by Mikel Arteta.
that Arsenal would need to spend £30million to land the 26-time Ukraine international this month – and it clears an agreement has been met – with the report claiming terms and fees have ‘already been settled’.
However, Arsenal are also being linked with Flamengo defender Mari – who has played for Manchester City in the past. A deal for the Spaniard is not done, with Arsenal wanting him on loan and Flamengo wanting a sale.
The report claims that although a move to sign Matviyenko has been agreed, the Gunners need to decide between Mari and Matviyenko.

TBR’s view – Matviyenko is surely the better option, though more pricey
Yes, Arsenal would have to spend £30million to sign Matviyenko and a move for Mari would only cost £7.5million – as per reports – but Matviyenko is much the better defender and landing him would be a better move.
Mari is already 26, three years older than Matviyenko, who is a fully fledged international and has experience in European competition – starring for Shakhtar in the Champions League. The decision will be down to how much Arsenal want to spend.
