Report: Arsenal agree deal for in-demand 18-year-old defender to join in January
Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal for Omar Rekik to join the Gunners in January, according to .
The 18-year-old defender, a Tunisia Under-21 international, currently plies his trade for Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.
He is yet to feature for the club’s senior side, but he has made the matchday squad on this season.

Rekik was promoted from Hertha’s Under-19s to the B team this summer, and he has made for them so far, registering one goal and one assist too.
According to , the teenager was expected to officially sign for Arsenal on transfer deadline day, but a deal between the Gunners and Hertha could not be completed in time.
Rekik, who has previously played at youth level for the likes of Feyenoord, Manchester City, PSV and Marseille, has reportedly been assured by Arsenal academy manager Per Mertesacker that he will get to train regularly with the first team.
In addition, Arsenal are said to be keen on the idea of loaning Rekik – who has apparently received offers from clubs across Europe – back to Hertha to aid his transition, although no decision has been made on this front.
TBR View:
Rekik certainly seems to have progressed well over the past few years to where he is now, a regular for Hertha’s B team with the occasional spot in the first team’s matchday squad, and sounds like he’d be a good fit for Arsenal’s academy.
Under Mikel Arteta, numerous Hale End talents have made the breakthrough into the first team, and with Mertesacker already in the process of bolstering the Under-18 and Under-23 ranks, things are looking bright for the North Londoners.
