Report: Arsenal ace Saliba has rejected the chance to join Rennes
Arsenal defender William Saliba rejected the chance to join Rennes ahead of next season, according to .
The defender faces an uncertain future with the club close to sealing a move for Ben White. It’s claimed the Gunners are willing to let the Frenchman leave the club on loan or permanently.
Saliba joined the club back in 2019, however, has yet to make a first-team appearance for the side. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Nice, where he impressed.
It’s being claimed Rennes and Saliba still endure a sticky relationship after last summer’s occurances. The Ligue 1 outfit agreed a deal with the 20-year-old over a season-long loan deal, however, never followed up their interest.
As a result, the centre-back was forced to see out the rest of 2020 in north London before a move to Nice.
Rennes finished in sixth-place in Ligue 1 last season, earning a place in the Europa Conference League play-off qualifying round.

There may still be animosity over last summer’s failed move, or, in more encouraging circumstances, the player may fancy his chances at breakthrough next season.
When Arsenal signed the central defender, all the noise was that he was one of the best in his age group.
However, things haven’t panned out for one reason or another. The news that Saliba has rejected the chance to join Rennes can only be encouraging for his Arsenal career.
He’ll be given a chance to impress Mikel Arteta this pre-season and he must take it with both hands.
