Report: Serial title-winner would reject advances of Tottenham
Tottenham could be about to part with Nuno Espirito Santo but it seems as though Antonio Conte won’t be replacing him.
the Italian is keen to work with a limited squad and will hold out for a bigger opportunity.
Manchester United is thought to be the club that Conte has set his heart on. The Red Devils thrashed Tottenham 3-0 yesterday to pile pressure on Espirito Santo.
Tottenham are in a mess. They have won five and lost five of their opening 10 matches, with the manager’s defensive style not utilising the club’s attacking talent.

The likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min aren’t thriving in his pragmatic system; providing cause for concern.
Tottenham must choose the next manager carefully. Espirito Santo was never the club’s first choice and that has shown during his 10 league games in charge.
Conte would have been an ideal appointment. He plays attacking football and has a proven track record of competing for and winning trophies.
Tottenham fans don’t crave a team that wins every week but they do certainly want to see more attacking intent from their manager.
Back to the drawing board for Tottenham as Conte looks unlikely
We’ve been here before. Espirito Santo hasn’t departed yet and already a high profile manager has seemingly scrubbed his name from the Tottenham list.
In their current state, Conte was perhaps always going to be a pipedream anyway. His approach is likely to take time and he will surely want money to spend in the transfer window.

As a result, perhaps Spurs will need to be more shrewd in their efforts to land their next manager and perhaps a domestic-based appointment will be sought.
Whoever it is will have some quality to play with and the challenge will be to lift the spirits amid a pretty unhappy dressing room at the moment.
