Report: Allan Saint-Maximing growing frustrated at lack of Newcastle contract talks

that Allan Saint-Maximin is beginning to grow frustrated at a lack of contract talks with Newcastle United – with the French winger earning just £36,000 a week, a much smaller wage than his teammates.

Saint-Maximin, 23, has been in stunning form since the restart – and indeed, for the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign since joining the Toon for just £16million from OGC Nice.

Newcastle have won just one of 14 matches that Saint-Maximin has not played – but of the 18 he has played, Newcastle have clocked up 10 wins. Certainly, he has been Newcastle’s best player this season.

However, the report claims that he is growing frustrated at Newcastle. That is because he is earning far less than some players who are struggling to even play – and is surprised at a lack of contract talks thus far.

TBR’s view – Saint-Maximin deserves big pay cheque

It is clear that Saint-Maximin is Newcastle’s best player. Saint-Maximin’s £36,000 a week would see him earn less than Dwight Gayle, Yoshinori Muto and Florian Lejeune.

He deserves to be given a pay rise that makes him the club’s highest earner. A fan favourite and a player that has shown he can create magic from nothing, Newcastle must keep him if they have any ambition.

Interest from other clubs is likely to grow this summer if a new deal does not come Saint-Maximin’s way, and the Toon have got to do everything they can to keep him.
