Report: Al Gharafa willing to bid for Everton striker Cenk Tosun

Everton attacker Cenk Tosun is reportedly wanted by Qatari club Al Gharafa.

, Al Gharafa are willing to make a “substantial offer” for the Toffees centre-forward and the transfer window in Qatar is still open until 30 September.

The 28-year-old has had a disappointing beginning to the new season at Goodison Park and it looks like he could still be prized away in September.

Tosun has zero minutes in the opening five Premier League games so far, while he was given a cameo appearance off the bench against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.

The Turkey international has seen himself fall behind teammates Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the striker pecking order at the Merseyside club.

He has nine goals in 44 games since he moved to Everton, but it’s not quite happened for him in English football and manager Marco Silva views him as a fringe player in his squad.

TBR’s View:

With his minutes scare so far this season, it would be no surprise if Tosun is open to the idea of joining Al Gharafa amid interest.

The striker deserves to be playing regular football and it’s difficult to see how his fortunes are going to change anytime soon at Goodison Park, especially as he failed to even make the 18-man squad the weekend against Bournemouth.

He’s a decent finisher that is strong in the air and should be coming to the peak of his powers, but isn’t the right fit for Silva or the pace of the Premier League.

Everton should perhaps be open to selling Tosun this month if they do receive a big offer and they signed him for £27million () back in January 2018.
