Report: Ajax want to take Tottenham forward Steven Bergwijn on loan
Tottenham winger, Steven Bergwijn, is wanted by Ajax in the January transfer window, with the Dutch club prepared to take him on loan in the winter.
makes the claim today, suggesting that the Dutch giants are waiting to see if Bergwijn does end up being part of Antonio Conte’s plans. It comes just a week or so after reports from the Netherlands had already suggested Ajax were keeping a watch over Bergwijn.
Bergwijn only signed for Tottenham back in January of 2020. He was a buy for then-manager, Jose Mourinho.

However, the Dutchman has struggled to really kick on despite a positive start under Jose. This season, he’s only started games in all competitions, and he came on for just ten minutes in the 3-0 win over Norwich.
Tottenham are expected to be busy in January. The club are determined to back Conte, but at the same time, a number of players are expected to leave as well. Bergwijn, then, could well be one of them.
TBR’s View: Bergwijn should leave Tottenham to kick start his career
The Dutchman can’t help the couple of injuries he’s had while at Spurs. That is through no fault of his own and just tough luck really. However, when he has played, he’s hardly lit the place up.
At the moment, he doesn’t seem massively in favour under Conte and there is more than one murmuring that the Italian coach isn’t a big fan of the Dutchman. That, if true, should be enough for Bergwijn to look to leave anyway.
Ajax are, as we know, a massive club. Bergwijn would play and have the chance to compete for trophies, while also maintaining a good level for his long-term prospects. A loan move makes sense, at which point he can then assess his options further in the summer.
