Report: Ajax are ‘serious’ about signing Steven Bergwijn; Spurs want £21m
Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn is wanted by Ajax this summer, with Dutch publication confirming the club are ‘serious’ about the Tottenham man.
Bergwijn is among a group of players at Spurs who face an uncertain future under new boss Nuno Santo. There has been suggestions in the media that Santo is indeed happy with Bergwijn. However, it remains to be seen if the Dutchman can cement a regular spot in the team.

And have now claimed that Ajax are keen on Bergwijn. The Dutch side are said to be after the winger, although Spurs are looking to get around £21m for their man.
Bergwijn only arrived in North London in January of 2020. He Spurs around £27m at the time, but has struggled in the main.
He’s had his moments but last season he managed just the single Premier League goal. The 23-year-old, then, could be deemed surplus to requirements as Fabio Paratici overhauls the Spur squad.
Saleable asset
There’s little point in Spurs keeping hold of Bergwijn if Santo doesn’t see a regular place for him. Further, with Bryan Gil also on the radar, Bergwijn would be getting bumped further down the pecking order.
If Spurs can get most of their money back here then it’s a deal they should be looking to conclude. £21m back on a £27m player who hasn’t quite delivered isn’t all that bad.
Paratici is clearly a man with a plan. It just remains to be seen if Bergwijn is in that plan or not.
