Report: AC Milan saw 23-year-old as their replacement for £130m star, but Leeds United went and signed him
Leeds United and AC Milan spent much of the summer transfer window competing with each other.
Leeds’ main transfer target Charles de Ketelaere ended up at the Serie A champions.

The winger has been an exciting addition to Jesse Marsch’s squad.
He scored on his first two league starts against Everton and Brentford.
However, he’ll be disappointed with his previous performance, after picking up a silly red card against Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old’s summer could have been very different had other events taken place.
Milan were interested in Sinisterra
Leao was a late transfer target for Chelsea after their takeover.
, but Milan never thought about selling Leao.
This is because one of AC Milan’s potential replacements – Sinisterra – had already moved on.
Given how well Sinisterra played last season for Feyenoord, it’s not a surprise that Milan were interested.
Sinisterra scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in the Eredivisie in 2021/22.
There are certainly similarities; both wingers are right-footed who prefer playing on the left.
This is despite Marsch mainly using Sinisterra on the right this season.

Leao also loves popping up in the box, and has already scored foul Serie A goals this season.
Sinisterra is certainly capable of that, and Leeds will be hoping to see him arriving in the box more to create scoring opportunities.
With Sinisterra mainly playing on the right wing, this is going to make it harder for him to cut inside and get into scoring positions.
The Colombian is certainly a very talented player that is going to have a big impact in the Premier League.
Given his ability, it’s no wonder AC Milan were interested in Sinisterra this summer.
