Report: AC Milan remain in talks for Tottenham’s Serge Aurier but Max Aarons is an alternative

AC Milan are still in talks with Tottenham over a deal to bring Serge Aurier to the club but have also identified Norwich starlet, Max Aarons, as a potential signing.

According to the , the Milan giants remain in contact with Spurs over the signing of Aurier, who has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

However, despite seeing the Ivorian as a key signing, Milan have also picked out Canaries star Aarons as a potential alternative, despite heavy interest from Barcelona.

Aurier was a regular under Jose Mourinho initially but the addition of Matt Doherty this summer has pushed the former PSG man down the pecking order in north London. A move, then, could well be on the cards, with Aurier not prepared to simply be a bench player.

Furthermore, Spurs need to move some players on following an expensive summer. Aurier also earns a reported £70k-a-week, according to , meaning it would be a hefty chunk of change off the wage bill too.

For all his qualities, there’s always been a cloud hanging over Aurier given his apparent lack of discipline. Whether that be in key moments, or in terms of picking up red and yellow cards.

The signing of Doherty was the beginning of the end really for Aurier and it’s little surprise to see him going.

However, Spurs need to be careful of digging their heels too much. Should they demand too much, Milan will simply move on, with Aarons a fine right-back himself.
