Report: AC Milan join Liverpool in race to sign wonderkid Nuno Mendes

AC Milan have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Sporting Lisbon star Nuno Mendes,

The 18-year-old will become a wanted man when the summer window reopens and the English duo might need to act quickly in order to sign the talented youngster.

Mendes has a release clause of and is seen by many as one of Europe’s most impressive young talents.

He has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon this season, despite his tender years.

Mendes has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time and it’ll be interesting to see where he does end up.

AC Milan take on Manchester United in the Europa League tonight and the club is on the rise once again.

Stefano Pioli’s team are second in Serie A and after years out of the reckoning, they are in a title race once more.

A move to Italy might prove attractive to the youngster and his prospects of regular football would be higher.

Mendes typically operates on the left-flank but has also played at left-back seven times this season.

The eye-watering release clause doesn’t seem to be detracting suitors and given his potential that doesn’t seem overly surprising.

After a miserable title defence, it’s fair to say Jurgen Klopp needs to try and attract a better quality of player.

His fringe options haven’t really worked out during 2020/21 and he needs better players to call upon from the bench.

Mendes looks like a star of the future and he’d be a decent backup option for Sadio Mane on the left-wing.

Kostas Tsimikas hasn’t really played much this season and the jury remains out on what part he will play at Anfield moving forwards.

Mendes can provide cover for Andy Robertson too and Liverpool should move quickly to beat Milan to the exciting signing.
