Report: AC Milan have budget for Serge Aurier deal, £6 million off of Tottenham asking price

AC Milan are not currently willing to meet Tottenham Hotspur’s €23 million (£20.5m) asking price for Serge Aurier, according to reports in Italy.

The Ivorian has emerged as a genuine target for the Rossoneri, despite Tottenham’s painfully obvious lack of right-back options.

But on just how far apart the two clubs involved are regarding a fee for the player.

They claim that Milan have budgeted a maximum of €16 million (£14.5m) for a new right-back, which puts them some way short of Tottenham’s demands.

The report, therefore, states that Aurier, along with Real Betis’ Barcelona loanee Emerson are currently out of reach.

Instead, PSV Eindhoven defender Denzel Dumfries is now looking like the most likely option for Milan.

Tottenham’s inconsistent full-back has suffered from patchy form since arriving in North London but is currently the only recognised right-back option at the club following the sale of Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton.

So the idea of Spurs selling him at such a low price seems extremely unlikely.

If Milan are to have any chance of taking Aurier away they are undoubtedly going to need to get a lot closer to the apparent asking price soon or forget about it.
