Report: £64k-a-week star ‘hopeful’ of Emirates move, but Arsenal interest may hinge on separate deal

Lyon star Houssem Aouar is reportedly “hopeful” of a move to the Emirates Stadium, but Arsenal interest may hinge on whether or not a deal can be completed for Leicester City’s James Maddison.

According to , Arsenal have shown interest in French midfielder Aouar and are readying a £100,000-a-week deal for him. This would be a sizeable upgrade on his current contract.

The report explains the Lyon 23-year-old could be snapped up for a bargain £25million transfer fee. However, they are yet to make a fresh bid due to the fact their attention has now been drawn elsewhere.

The north London club have set their sighs on a deal for 24-year-old playmaker Maddison from Premier League rivals Leicester, who could cost upwards of £60million.

Aouar’s camp reportedly hope Arsenal fall short in their bid to sign Maddision, so that they turn back towards their man.

For Arsenal, they’ve got an extremely talented midfielder who wants a move to north London.

Yes, Maddison would be a marquee addition. However, they should try get this Aouar transfer done as well before anyone else swoops in.

The Lyon ace is a box-to-box central midfielder with eight goals and four assists in 33 appearances last season, which are the kind of numbers Arsenal would love in their centre of the park. 

Arteta’s squad is slowly starting to improve, but they need a couple of fresh faces still this window.
