Cristian Romero has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur on a deal which could last until 2027, .

Close to completion

Tottenham are chasing Romero from Atalanta this summer, with the central defender seemingly one of their top targets.

And it seems that Tottenham are edging closer and closer to a deal.

Indeed, Romero is apparently ready to commit his long-term future to Spurs.

The initial contract that he has been offered would last until 2026, with the option of another year added on.

If Romero was to sign for that length of time that it would be a huge statement from Tottenham,

It is easy to see why Spurs want to protect Romero’s value too.

Second most expensive Tottenham player ever?

The 23-year-old could be one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history.

Indeed, Di Marzio shed light on some of the figures in his latest update.

The Italian journalist says that Tottenham are looking at a deal worth a base £38.5 million with a further £8.5 million in add-ons.

Tottenham’s record buy at the moment is Tanguy Ndombele, but this deal would only be worth marginally less than that transfer now.

If Romero was to arrive at Tottenham it would be a significant statement of intent.

The central defender is rated as one of the best prospects in his position in Europe and he could really help to tighten up Spurs’ backline in the years ahead.
