Report: 26-year-old’s about to leave Arsenal, Arteta will promote teenager to replace him

Alex Runarsson is set to leave Arsenal this week, , with the goalkeeper set to join Altay on loan for the season.
Going soon
Runarsson struggled at Arsenal last term with the Icelandic international never fully convincing that he was ready to play for the Gunners.
It seems that Mikel Arteta is no longer backing the 26-year-old to make the grade either.
Arsenal, instead, are set to promote Arthur Okonkwo to third choice.
The 19-year-old has been with Arsenal’s squad throughout the entirety of pre-season, where he has caught the eye.
Catching the eye
Okonkwo actually struggled in Arsenal’s first friendly of the campaign, as he made a huge error against Hibernian, but Arteta has obviously seen enough to suggest that the youngster has a first-team future.
He is unlikely to play too much, as Arsenal are set to sign a new goalkeeper to add competition to Bernd Leno.

But for the teenager to be around the first-team squad for the whole season so be great for his development.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are unlikely to miss Runarsson too badly.
Unfortunately he seemed to quickly lose the trust of those around him at Arsenal, and his departure looked inevitable even after just a few months following his arrival.
