that Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has accepted an offer from David Beckham’s new MLS side Inter Miami, and will now move across the pond just two years after joining the Scottish champions.
Reports claimed last week that Beckham’s new side had a six-figure offer accepted for the Scotland international, who has managed just 31 games for Celtic since his move – as well as returning to St Mirren on loan, and a short spell at Sunderland.
Now, the 23-year-old is said to have agreed a deal with Inter Miami and is set to move to America in the near future. He joins Gary Mackay-Steven and Johnny Russell as Scottish players in the MLS – for New York City and Soprting Kansas respectively.
It is believed Morgan has accepted a long-term, well-paid deal and has been impressed by Miami’s vision and ambition. Miami have already made some impressive signings, including USA internationals Juan Agudelo, Lee Nguyen and Luis Robles.
TBR’s view – A good move for Morgan?
One thing is for sure, is that Morgan will get plenty of game time and given his improving talent, he certainly has all the tools necessary to impress in the MLS. But is it a step backwards for Morgan?
The young winger has clocked up 18 appearances for Celtic this season, with Neil Lennon placing his faith in the wide man since the summer. With Scott Sinclair joining Preston, he is only likely to be in line for more game time.
But instead, he has abandoned his Celtic dream and moved to The States. If he can shine enough in the MLS, there is no reason why a return to Britain could be on the cards.
