Report: 23-year-old ‘battering ram’ who Victor Orta wants at Leeds makes decision on future
A player who Leeds United director of football Victor Orta is monitoring has reportedly dealt a huge blow to any hopes of the Whites bringing him to Elland Road this year.
At the end of January, Orta gave an interview to the in which he discussed the work done by his scouting department.
One report was on Freiburg defender Robin Koch, and although Orta acknowledged that he’d most likely be out of the reach of a Championship side, he suggested that things may be different in case Leeds reach the Premier Leaue.

“We have 8,080 reports. In a report about a match you can evaluate six or seven players,” Orta told the .
“I’ll give you an example, Koch playing at his level now is really difficult for the Championship, it is another level.
“But we are always evaluating because perhaps, in a moment, he could be available. Or we could get into another league and then he could be available.”
Koch has been impressive for the Bundesliga side since his 2017 move from Kaiserslautern, .
However, German outlet has reported that Koch wants to play Champions League football next season.
TBR View:
Koch is a highly rated player, described by the as a “rangy battering ram happy at home at the heart of the defence or in defensive midfield” and compared to Bayern Munich’s Javi Martinez.
Portuguese outlet , hinting at interest in Koch by Benfica, suggested that the 6ft 3in ace had a £15million price tag, which is fairly modest were Leeds to get into the Premier League at the end of this season.
However, if the report is true and Koch is only looking to move to a Champions League team this summer, that would sadly rule him out altogether for the Whites until 2021-22 at the absolute earliest.
