Wednesday want Elliot Anderson

The report reads: “As things stand, it seems likely Wednesday will have to look elsewhere in their search for midfield reinforcements. Yorkshire Live understands the Owls are big admirers of Newcastle United’s Elliot Anderson.

The 19-year-old starred on loan at Bristol Rovers, helping the Gas secure automatic promotion to League One.
Anderson, who has been likened to Diego Maradona by Rovers boss Joey Barton, scored eight goals in 21 appearances as Rovers pipped Northampton Town to third spot.

He also won the League Two Goal of the Month award and was named the EFL Young Player of the Month for April.
Wednesday were said to have had a loan deal lined up for Anderson at the turn of the year only for injuries and suspensions to scupper a potential move.

It will be interesting to see if they revive their interest in him when the transfer window reopens next month. A number of Championship clubs, including Millwall and Luton Town, are said to be keeping close tabs on Anderson’s situation.

Newcastle look set to go again and strengthen their squad, which means that Anderson may find it hard to get gametime on Tyneside next term.

It seems wise to send him out to another level up, and the main decision to make is over whether to get him into the second or third tier.

He has impressed the fans in youth football and he needs regular men’s gametime to keep progressing and it is no surprise he has widespread interest.
