Report: £100k-a-week Spurs star’s interested in move abroad next year – and Conte may be powerless

Hugo Lloris is interested in leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Major League Soccer at the end of the season as his contract in North London runs down, .

Lloris’ future seems to have been a talking point for several years now. The 34-year-old has been a little more inconsistent in the last few seasons.

He will unquestionably go down as one of the best the Premier League has seen. But Spurs would surely be foolish to not have a good idea of what the future holds once the Frenchman has moved on.

And it appears that there is a good chance that his departure may come at the end of the season.

that his contract expires next summer. And so far, fresh terms have not been negotiated.

As ESPN notes, the arrival of Antonio Conte means that it is almost impossible to say with any certainty where Lloris – who earns £100,000-a-week, – is going to be plying his trade next season.

But it is claimed in the report that he is interested in heading to MLS at the end of the campaign.

Lloris predicted potential MLS move from Tottenham back in 2019

It may not come as a surprise to some that Lloris has been linked with a potential move across the Atlantic.

In 2019, the Spurs skipper spoke about the possibility of heading there. And interestingly, he admitted that he did not expect to finish his career with Tottenham.

Tottenham arguably find themselves in a strong position. While Lloris is number one, it may not be too difficult to convince him to stay a little longer.

That gives them an opportunity to see what is on the market. If they find the goalkeeper they believe can succeed Lloris, then it may be the right time for a change.

But clearly, there is no reason to shut the door on Lloris staying just yet.
