‘Reminds me of Carrick’: Some West Ham fans were ‘impressed’ by ‘class’ talent in pre-season win
West Ham claimed another win in pre-season last night as David Moyes’ side cruised to a against Reading.
Goals from Issa Diop, Conor Coventry and Ben Johnson secured a comfortable victory for the east London side.
Moreover, it was an impressive outing for the Premier League side, with a number of experienced heads and newcomers performing well against the Royals.

One player who was head and shoulders above the rest, though, was goalscorer Coventry. The midfielder controlled the tempo of the game well in the heart of the midfield.
Coventry impressed for West Ham
And his second-half strike rounded off what was an impressive performance for the 21-year-old academy graduate.
Indeed, Coventry will be one of the many youngsters looking to break into the West Ham first-team this season.

However, with weekly UEFA Europa League football coming to east London for the first time in decades, there is a good chance Moyes will offer the likes of Coventry minutes in the senior squad.
Moreover, fans on social media were happy with the Republic of Ireland youth international’s performance last night against Reading.
Here’s what some West Ham fans had to say about Coventry on Twitter…

Coventry looks class. Really needs to be in and around that first team this season. Do wanna see him beef up a bit though. He’d get thrown about a lot in the Prem.

I really like Coventry. Tidy on the ball! Confident with his pass & always drives forward. Not scared to shoot either.

He can definitely break though this year. There’s only so much he can learn in the development squad – needs to play competitive 1st team football now.
West Ham’s next pre-season fixture will take place on Saturday when the Irons face off against Scottish giants Celtic in Glasgow.
